Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) has announced today that a new sponsor is being sought for the Centre’s iconic Northern Lights Tower. The Centre, which hosts over 600 events and welcomes over 300,000 people through its doors each year, is one of Scotland’s premier conference, exhibition and entertainment venues.

The Northern Lights Tower is located at the front of the Centre, adjacent to Ellon Road, which sees an average of 23,000 cars pass by each day. The Tower is visible from Aberdeen’s Beach Boulevard and is a key landmark of the City. The Tower itself can be used for cocktail and drinks receptions and provides excellent panoramic views. It is also seen in the majority of press photos taken at AECC.

The Conference and Exhibition Centre is uniquely placed in heart of the Oil and Gas Capital of Europe (Aberdeen). As the National Energy Exhibition Centre, AECC attracts over 30 high-profile national and international Oil and Gas events to the North East of Scotland each year; including Offshore Europe, Oil & Gas UK Share Fair, Subsea UK, Unconventional Gas Conference and DEVEX (which took place last week) and the All-Energy Exhibition and Conference, which starts today, and is expecting in the region of 9,000 people over the two days.

The AECC Arena also attracts some of the biggest names in comedy, rock, and pop each year, with Boyzone, Joe Bonamassa, Jessie J and Stereophonics set to play the Centre in the next few months, as part of the 2013 line-up.

Brian Horsburgh, AECC’s MD, says: “We are seeking appropriate brands to form long-term partnerships with. The Tower is a key part of the Centre’s identity and it is an exciting opportunity for a business to gain high visibility in front of those attending events here, as well as all of those passing by on their way to and from the City Centre. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for a company to secure a unique marketing presence and make a massive impact.”

AECC are welcoming interested potential partners now with a view to announcing a new Tower sponsor in mid-2013, prior to Offshore Europe 2013.

ENDS

Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) is pleased to welcome the 2013 All-Energy Exhibition & Conference to the Centre next week (22nd and 23rd May 2013). All-Energy is the UK’s largest renewable energy event taking place in ‘Europe’s Energy City’, Aberdeen, and is expected to attract in the region of up to 9,000 people over the two days, and bring over £4m of economic benefit to Aberdeen City and Shire.

During this time, parking in the AECC site will be limited as much of the car park area will be covered by temporary structures to house the exhibition.

To ensure that all attendees arrive in good time and do not experience parking delays, the Organisers (Reed Exhibitions) and the AECC would like to encourage delegates to use public transport to and from Aberdeen International Airport. A complimentary bus service will run from the airport to AECC on the two show mornings and run from the show to the airport in the afternoons – exact times are shown on the All-Energy website at www.all-energy.co.uk/en/visit/VenueandTravel/; and from the City Centre. Additionally, shuttle buses will run from many of the key City Centre hotels and delegates are encouraged to make the most of this facility, and to use the ‘to City Centre’ buses that will be available during and at the end of the Giant Networking evening on 22nd May.

The First Bus Park & Ride at AECC will be operational during both days of the event, however this parking area will be available to attendees at All-Energy so is expected to be very busy. The Park & Ride buses (Number 40) will stop at AECC as usual for those wishing to travel from the Kingswells Park & Ride or to catch this bus along its route through the City Centre.

On Sunday 21st April, over 600 enthusiasts attended the inaugural Wheels 2013 event at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC).

From 10am – 4pm wheeled vehicle enthusiasts and families gathered at Wheels 2013 to view the motorbikes, cars, quads and fire engines on display. Segways were a big attraction, particularly amongst younger attendees and families, whilst the ‘Get On’ bike campaign allowed those over the age of 18 to have a go at driving a motorcycle with a qualified instructor at their side.

Brian Horsburgh, AECC’s Managing Director commented: “Despite the typical North-East weather Wheels 2013 turned out to be a successful and fun day out for all. With over 200 motorcycles being brought along by enthusiasts, this provided a bike exhibition in itself! The mix of static and interactive stands provided a range of dynamic exhibits, appealing to both enthusiasts and families.”

Martin Marshall, Ecosse Motorcycles commented: “Wheels 2013 provided a great platform for us to showcase our latest motorcycles to the public, outside of the showroom. The test drives proved very popular and all-in-all Wheels has been a very beneficial event for Ecosse to be part of.”

Don’t miss the chance to see this unique comedian on his biggest tour to date; back on stage, on-top of the world, doing what he does best.

Brian Horsburgh, AECC’s Managing Director says: “Having performed at the AECC Arena to a great response in the past, we are looking forward to the return of Russell Howard. He performs the week after British Comedy Award winner Jack Whitehall, making March 2014 a great month for comedy in the North-East!”
